Default ZA Status

We finally got the VON number from the dealer that we placed an order with 4-5 weeks ago. My girlfriend called Dodge today to check status and was told that the VON didn't come up. She called the dealer back and he said it was in ZA status which he had never seen before. As I understand it, ZA is order canceled Last week when we talked to him he said it had a scheduled build date of June 23. What would cause this??

It may be because of the changeover from 2006.5 to 2007 on the Caliber. I have heard that the factory cancelled all orders at changeover and issued new VON's. So what is happening is, you are using an old VON that factory has no record of, and dealer is using either the new VON or a different number and getting the info.

Well I ordered my RT on April 29th. Went to the dealer today to hear from the slaesman in person about the VIN number. He thought there would be one but alas, when he pulled it up on the computer he said they haven't assigned one yet. Does this mean (according to your note above) that mine might have been cancelled as an 2006.5 and automatically re-issed as a 2007 model? Shouldn't I have a VIN by now?

Well you only get a VIN when it is assigned to be built, meaning, everything is ok and it will be built eventually. A VON is just the order number, they did a changeover on June 1st from what I understand, all cars before that were considered 2006.5 by Chrysler's computer, then to get the changeover and computer right, they assigned new VON numbers to orders to make them 2007 on the computer. At least that is what I came up with from what I have heard. If your car was anywhere near being scheduled, then you should have a VIN by now, but you might double check the VON and make sure the factory didn't change it, that could make a difference as to what car you are looking at, on the Chrysler system.

If you have a VON, go to this forum and this thread, sign up for Caliberforums and then (PM) playBOY42, he can call up your order and send you what is on Chrysler's computer about your car.
