Now why didn't you buy the Caliber with the color keyed inserts?!...
I really don't get you people...you buy a plain jane Caliber, then later want to add the Musicgate, coler keyed inserts, air conditioning, Etc. Do some some research before you buy! Trust me, it will save you head aches and what ifs...

I think what happens is, people don't want to wait to order one so they'll go find one on a lot. When they get it home they either see what Caliber they could have gotten, and/or they buy the Caliber thinking they can just upgrade it. Also, some people don't like the 2-toned seats, but want the colored dash or visa versa.

I'll give you a good answer, as far as paint goes, any good spray paint will do, if the part is plastic, they have special plastic spray paint that makes a good bond to the plastic, any good auto parts store will have it. Now if you want the actual factory part already painted and ready to install, go to dealer parts department and get the part number for the color you want, they come already painted, and you can enter that number on any online discounted Dodge part sites, and look for the best price.

Not much you can do with seat color, you could order seat covers on ebay to do what you want, order the factory seat covers (probably too expensive) or have custom seat covers made at any custom auto store.

If you are not familiar with painting plastic, or are not willing to do it yourself, you can have a body shop do it for you, but if you want to do it yourself, you can.

I have painted many things on my dodge truck, and it is not that hard, but you need to make sure you do it right.

1. You need to first remove the part
2. Scuff it with a fine sandpaper lightly.
3. clean it real well with thinner, do not use acetone
4. They sell an adhesion promoter that you will spray on first that helps the paint adhere to the plastic. This is because paint does not stick to plastic well, and when it does, it cracks since plastic will flex.
5. Then there is a primer for plastic you need to spray on before the color. The primer also helps to fill scratches or any deformity in the plastic before painting, otherwise you will see those scratches.
6. Then after primer, you will sand again with a very fine sandpaper to smooth it out.
7, Then you can ususally get Duplicolor in small spray cans that will match your paint exactly. Try http://www.autobarn.com
You will need to paint about 3 light coats to get the desired color
8. Then you will spray with a clear coat to seal it up and help with scratching.

It is not that hard, just take your time and make sure to get the right paint. There are some paints you can get in the store for plastic, but they just don't give the nice finish.

There, Much better response than majal. Sometimes, people want to modify their car and actually enjoy doing it. Give people a break Dad!!!!

This is also a great way to paint things under the hood. Like my truck I painted the Fuse Box cover.

Auto Barn is good for paint matching Duplicolor and they have good pricing.

Good Luck

Later

Mike

No Problem Cosmo, It is really easy to do, just have to have the right materials. It will look awesome. I would find a part like a fuse box cover or oil cap or something like that and start on that to get some practice. You will love the look and with the above steps, it will last a long time.

Take Care

Mike
