Default Question about my newly ordered Caliber SXT...

So I'm a proud new "owner" of a sunburst orange SXT. I use quotes around owner because I leased the Caliber 2 weeks ago, but it's still on order. This Caliber was ordered in March by a customer who got sick of waiting and cancelled the order, so when I signed the lease the order was renewed.

My question is this...The current Dodge customer options package is fine by me the way it is...I don't remember which one it is exactly. But I called the Dodge customer service # with my VON# and they told me it's not scheduled to be built til next week...but I wouldn't mind a few extra features...

Does anyone think it's too late for me to add a sunroof and the flip-down speakers in the back at this point, seeing as the car hasn't even been built yet? I'm going to call Dodge for a definite answer, but was wondering your opinions first...

Thank!

You would think it wouldn't be too late, but I don't know for sure.

If its not scheduled to be built, the dealer should be able to make changes without any problems or delays. I've called DC about this same issue, and they said if the order is in "BG" status, dealers are able to make changes. If your dealer says otherwise, he don't know what he is doing, and should request to speak to the manager. Anyway, I believe the manager is the only one authorized to make changes to an order thats already been placed. I hope this gives you a little insight anyway!

If it is scheduled I would guess you are in "D1" status and then be to late.
BX, BE, and BG status and anything can still be changed.

Yep, once its in D status the dealer can't cancel or make changes to the order. It has to be built like whats on the order sheet.

Don't be too quick to think you cannot add some features later. Everyone here is correct that you cannot purchase some packages later as an add on, but like MusicGate, the main part that is cool is the speakers that fold down and a Bass Speaker and amplifier. I am sure you can purchase the inside panel with the speakers that fold down and replace your back panel. Then just add your own head unit and speakers and a bass speaker with an amplifier. It might just turn out better than the stock setup.

MusicGate may not be an option to purchase later and add completely, but parts can be purchased as replacements. It will probably cost you more in the long run, but if you already have your Caliber or cannot change the order, this would be a great way to go. I ordered it with my Caliber, but if I didn't, I would do this exact same thing. Maybe even get a head unit with a built in dvd player and screen.

Research it with your parts department, if they cannot help you, I have a parts guy that gives great discounts and will find out for you.

Since there are alot of questions about adding MusicGate, I will research it with my contact tomorrow and get prices and part numbers.

Spoke to my friend at the dealership parts department, and funny enough, he bought his wife a Caliber and did not get the MusicGate system. He has ordered some of the parts like the amp and flip down speaker panel and side panel for the bass, and the amplifier. He said he will let me know next week when he gets them exactly what part numbers you need and what the cost of each is. He said it can definately be done though. He said the Amp is about $100 and the sub box and side panel is just under $300 and he will let me know the back hatch panel with flip down speakers cost.

He says that you can also upgrade to the 4 wheel disc brakes for $800 which a lot of people have been asking him for.
