On going battle with the grill, there was a memo from the factory in April, that to speed up Caliber orders they were going to just use body colored grills, then it changed to only the SXT Sport and SE would get the body colored, so it could be a guess as to what anyone will get.

^Thanks for that, I had a funny feeling that this could be a lottery. I'm going to see my dealer again at the weekend (He's going to get very bored if me keep turning up) and let him know that I would like the chrome grille

I've been to look at the latest Caliber that has arrived at my local dealership and it's an orange SXT however the front grille is body coloured and not chrome? I thought the SXT models came with chrome grilles as standard or am I wrong?
If you get sport package or the SE model, it will come with the colored grille, not the chrome one. If you orderd the BASIC SXT or R/T, then yes, you will get the chrome grille! Did any of you guys get the Dodge Caliber brochure? If so, you need to read through it! Its plainly stated right in the brochure...

That is correct, except for the April memo, and if you look in the brochure, the picture of the Sport has a Chrome Grill. So I still say it could be a guess at this point as to what anyone will get for a Grill, the factory is still trying to get Calibers out, they still have a big backlog and problems, agravated by adding the Compass to the lines.

Oh and StephenM, the dealer will not have the ability to specify a grill on an ordered car, even if it was special ordered, if the car is not going to have one, trying to do something to make sure it does, would really mess up production or your order.

Ebay has a couple of the chrome grilles up for auction. If you're sure your caliber isn't getting one, I would look there. Prices on ebay are definitely going to be much more cheaper than ordering one from you dealer.

I've just checked my brochure and it says that both the SXT and SXT Sport come with a chrome grille - Maybe this is a difference between the UK/European and US versions.

Don't always believe what you see/read in the brochure. The brochure is made months in advance of the first production Caliber going down the assembly line. For example, you'll notice the Sunburst Orange in the brochure looks absolutely nothing like the color in person. Thats because they used Sunblast Orange for the brochure like what was on the Neon instead of Sunburst Orange. Some people are getting the SXT Sports with Chrome Grills even today. Its almost like a crap shoot as to whether or not you'll get a colored or chrome grill. I don't think your dealer can do anything about it. It doesn't have anything to do with the different country versions.

Also European orders are taking far longer than US orders. I wouldn't expect your Caliber until October/November at earilest if you live overseas. You may be waiting 1 or 2 months for a dealer allocation over there(if they do that crap over there too). I ordered my Caliber on May 1st, and its still not built yet. Supposedly, my Caliber is going to be built this coming Friday (7/28), but I'm not too optimistic. I was told it was supposed to be build July 7th too and it wasn't built. So also be prepared to be jerked around for a while. Its a strong test of patients....

Well, I was told that it would take 6 weeks to get my Caliber, however, I went to the dealership today and was told that mine was delivered this morning!! That's after only 2 weeks!! They need a few days to fit the Sat Nav etc and get the paperwork completed and I should be ablt to pick it up next Monday!!

It does look like I'll be getting the painted grille, but that will be changed over once I get my hands on a chrome one.

I can't wait now

THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL...[:@] My orders been in now for 15 frickin weeks and its still in the BX status with NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FRICKIN BUILD DATE IN SIGHT! Wait a minute, two weeks to have one built and delivered?! I don't think so!! When you pick up your car, check to see if your name is actually printed on the window sitcker. If not, I'm putting money on it that your dealer was able to find a Caliber you wanted, and picked it up for you. If thats not the case, something doesn't sound right here. If you actually put in an order, a dealer more than likely will not search for an already made Caliber. Unless you specifically tell them, the dealer will look for a Caliber out there of your liking, and if they do find one, they'll negate the actual order you and the dealership put in. Anyway, keep us posted when you do get it, and remember, post some awesome pics of it! You know how we all like the pics!

By no means do I think mine was built to order, I would imagine that there is a stock of right hand drive models in this country and it'll be modified to the spec I want

I'll have plenty of photos up once the car is in my hands!!

I hope you get yours soon
