Default New from the UK

Hi everyone new to this forum, picked up my Caliber SXT Sport CVT in Sunburnt Orange with Sound Gate system, and boy I am impressed with the whole car, had in 2 months now and I just Can't leave it alone, every opportunity to get out and drive the Caliber I'm right in there and off like a race horse out the box.

This might sound funny to all the folks in the USA but why has my Caliber got its key door entry hole on the passenger side and not on the drivers side, does'nt matter anyway I use the remote keyfob.

Hi Congrats!

The only thing i can think of is that when they built your car they didn't take into concideration that it was RHD. I'm from Australia so i must check if the ones here have the same problem since we are RHD also

This is strictly a cost issue only one entry lock on the caliber and since 90% were to be sold in North America the drivers door was it.
To do the right hand door would mean developing another handle with an entry lock for UK and Austrailia. Increasing the cost.

Hi Pirret, yup there are several cost cutting things on the UK models like this one!! Have you seen the UK forum which can be found at http://www.caliberowners.co.uk which has a lot of good UK tips on it...

You would think they would have at least changed that on the euro models [8D]

Ha there are a few little oddities like that... however I got the impression they were under pressure to get the cars into the UK on time, so these little things slipped through the net.

It will be interesting over the coming months to see how the UK Caliber changes....
