Default Daytime running lights

I just noticed this morning on my Caliber when driving down the road that my daytime running lights were on (no surprise there), then I put on my right directional and my right headlight went off. I thought I was seeing things so tried the left...same thing. If I have just my daytime running lights on and use my directionals it looks like a running light is out.

I found this very odd and was just wondering if that is what happens with all of them or if there is maybe a short of some sort in mine.

Thanks!

I've seen GM's that do that as well.

Its done like that so during the daylight hours the headlamps don't drown out the turn signal lights.

The law in Canada changed to state that if the headlights are used as DRL the headlight must go out when the turn signal is turned on. Just an FYI for everyone.

I don't know how many or if any US states require DRLs
however Canadian regs state that if a turn signal bulb
is 100mm or less from DRL bulb then the DRL must shut
off when turn signal is on.[/align]
