timing issue

Default timing issue

i have a 00 caravan 3.0 just did water pump and the belt slipped off. how can i tell if the crank is at number one cylinder. i have lined up my marks but i dont know if one revolution on the crank is compress stoke and the next revolution is exhaust stroke or is the compression and exhaust stroke in one full revolution. thanks

As long as you didn't try crank the engine, just line up your timing marks. pull the dist cap off, there are screws holding the cap down. Here the tick, the dist rotor when you are on number one, the rotor blade will be lined up to the hole or near on the front valve cover side.
