I have a 1986 Caravan with the 2.6, and automatic trans. I know Mazda used the same 2.6 in their pickup trucks of the era, and also offered a 2.5 liter diesel engine. Is it possible to put the 2.5 diesel engine in the Caravan? Do the bellhousings/torque converters/etc. match? Obviously I would need to drain the fuel, and the trans is somehow sensitive to throttle position. Would this be an overall difficult swap? Have you ever heard of anyone doing it? Passing smog is not an issue for me with this car.
