I have a 2001 V6 4 speed auto Caravan with 110,000 miles. My son was driving it on the highway at 60 with the cruise and on, he said it made a clunk type sound and the it lurched. He took off the cruise and drove it normally to the next exit about a mile or so and stopped. He checked it overand all apeared ok. He then put it in drive and it would not go, tried all gears and the same thing, just reved. In reverse it made a slight clicking sound. The fluid was nice and clear and red as I have followed the reccomended changes of tranny filter and fluid changes to this point. It seemed like you could feel it wanting to go, much like when the parking brake was on, but nothing. Nothing was leaking.

I hate the thought of maintaining it properly and having the tranny die.

Has anyone elese had a similarproblem? or can give me an ideawhat I am looking at before the dealer gets it next week.

Yes, The transmission is trying move in two gears instead of of one. There could be a planetary gear problem too.

Is this ususally caused by an electronic/computer problem or is it more gear oriented? I guess what I am trying to figure out. Is my transmission a write-off? Is it worth repairing?
