Thanks Mahoney, I used your pics w/ the directions for my 1997 GC. They were very helpful. Had a few hang ups finding the 3 nuts inside the eng comp. all done. Now I just need to evacuate the system before I recharge it. Barrowed a vacuum w/ gauges from my neighbor that does warranty work on fridges. gauges manifold says it's can read the R-134a. Do I evacuate from the same port that I recharge the system? A pic inside a book from the part store shows where to recharge, but recommends the evacuating to a shop. Noticing (3) ports. (1) for the low end, (2) for the high end, and (3) that has a tag saying 'Evap. Service Port. max. 1 psi'

Default Evaporator Replacement Help How To

Glad to help. I took my van to local shop to have it "gassed" up. (only cost $50 - worth it for me to have it done right).

I have a 2002 dodge grand caravan, does any one know if the procedure to replace the evaporator is similar to the 2000. I have a leak in my evaporator and need to have it changed out.

Thanks in advanced.

Default 2001 Dodge Caravan

I just did this same repair on a 2001 Dodge Caravan. It's really similar, although I wish I had looked at the pictures of how to take the dash out as a unit. It's not hard, it's just time consuming.

The transmission will not shift? What year is your van and engine size.

If you dropped your steering column, be sure to re-check your linkages and connections. also check the electrical connections. something might still be loose or not plugged in all the way.
