Because existing sources of vehicle reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at TrueDelta.com. I'm reporting absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to provide reliability information on new models like the 2008 Grand Caravan very quickly--if enough owners sign up to help out.

Owners of older model years can also participate. I'm already collecting data on many of these years.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results for free.

Anyone buying the 2008s?

Doing well with other years. If you're one of those who has already signed up, thanks, I appreciate it. If you're not yet signed up, I hope you'll consider doing so.

 

Nine of the 2008s are now signed up, so I'll start collecting data. Will need more before I can provide results, though. Additional participants for other model years would also be very helpful.

 

I just ordered the 08 caravan so in about 6-8 weeksI can help you out.

16 2008s now, and over 300 total across all model years. But that's a lot of model years--very much still need more participants.

Updated results in a couple of weeks.

 

Despite my best efforts, the 2008s will not be in the February results. Still only 18 signed up, far fewer than I expected. In comparison, there are already 80 2008 Honda Accords in the panel.

The next set of results will be in May. I'd very much like to have the 2008s in those, but more participants are going to be necessary. More participants are also needed for older model years.
