Default Check engine light

I have a 2005 Grand Caravan with check engine light that is on. I had it checked and got an error code for the EGR valve (p0406). I replaced the valve, but i still have the check engine light coming on. Do I need to drive it awhile and will reset on its own or do i need to reset it manually??
If I need to reset manually, how do i go about doing that??

Default RE: Check engine light

I change the EGR on my 2004 Caravan last year, and it takes several driving cycles before the light went out

- Disconnect the battery and leave disconnected for say 10 minutes is one way.
- Remove the fuse to the power control modual (replace in 10 minutes) is another way.
- Use a scanner (garages have them) is another.
- Use your vehicle. 50 (or less)restarts will remove it.
