Default UConnect/Voice-Recognition Microphone Isn't Working

Hello everyone--

I believe I have a Uconnect/Voice-Recognition microphone problem and was wondering if there's anything I can do to verify the problem and, if possible, fix it myself?

We just bought an '08 Grand Caravan originally with the MyGig REN unit but negotiated a RER upgrade with the dealer (I really wanted the NAV system). My wife took it into the dealer and it was installed last wednesday; it appears the microphone wasn't reconnected correctly or at all, or it's plain busted. When I got home and tried it voice commands seemed to work briefly (or may be I was wishfully thinking that they were) but VR doesn't work at all.

Otherwise the unit seems to work normally. What makes me think the voice system is partially working is that, again, it seemed to work on my very first try and it seems to react once in several tries. It's like the mic is blocked out and may be getting muffled commands. BTW, where is the factory installed microphone for this system, on the rear-view mirror?

Also, I upgraded the system software from 9.665 to 9.703 in the hopes that it would fix the problem but there was no change or improvement with the voice system.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, one other thing ... with the Uconnect we can only get partial incoming/outgoing calls at best and, like I said, the VR commands don't seem to work at all or they're totally unweildy.

Following up ... I was overlooking the answer all along ... we need the wiring harness that Dodge/Chrysler are supposed to be releasing shortly for the RER units.
