RB4 Navigation system help needed......
I just purchased a 2007 Grand Caravan SXT for my wife. The van came with the RB4 navigation system. Once I had time to fiddle with the system I realized it was not picking up the satellites. I tired to re-calibrate it, etc...no luck.
I took it in to the Dodge dealership and they are saying it is not the original radio that was in the van and that it is "not the right radio for the vehicle".
- First, the RB4 IS compatibale with a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan, right?
- Second, any idea why it would not be picking up the satellites and GPS coordinates?....it will occasionally pick up the time, but that is it. The sensors on the vehicle unitseem to be working fine.
Please help if you guys can....I have no idea what else to do and the dealer is not being much help (or they just don't know what to look for or how to fix it).

I bought it from a 3rd party dealer (used)....now he is telling me that RB4 is compatible, but there are different RB4 units for different vehicles....It all just does not add up.
by the way, if the unit is powered up, the radio works, the display works, the disk changer/DVD works and is visible on the RB4 display, etc....would vehicle compatibility have any affect on the GPS/Navigation part? I'll admit, I don't know much about navigation systems, but if it has power, should it not have the ability to function, regardless of vehicle?
It seems like it has to be an antenna issue....but the dealer won't even listen to me.

yes, I have the DVDs...it won't read the satellites and thet GPS coordinates all are 0's....guess it could be a bad unit.
I don't believe that it is an issue with the compatibility of the vehicle though. That seems bogus to me.

After some research your radio should be a RB1 not a RB4, mopar part number for the RB1 56038629AI. and this is the only radio that has a nav unit.
