Default Help....chirping/squeal noise after new hubs --- '93 SE

Hi guys,

I'm all out of ideas with my mini. It's a 1993 3.3L with about 120k miles.

Developed a moaning/vibration that was speed related and took it in to get both front hubs replaced. That particular noise went away, but it developed another speed related squeal/chirp type noise up front. It starts after a mile or so of driving. If I let it sit and cool off, it won't start up until some driving.

Went back to the mechanic who said it was probably the brakes, even though they were fine before. I changed them because the rotors were really rusted on the inside side. The noise did not go away after new pads and rotors.

Somebody on another forum recommended taking the hubs off and putting some grease on the wear sleeve. I did that too, but the noise didn't go away until I went for a highway drive. When I got off the exit the noise was gone. That was last week. After a few 25mi trips this week, the noise is back. Again, it shows up after a mile or two of driving. I hit the highway again, but it was slightly audible at 60mph.

It doesn't go away until I completely stop. Pressing or riding the brakes doesn't do anything. But it does seem to go come and go at some speeds.

Any ideas? Should I just take back on the hub I suspect is squealing?

Thanks!

Maybe the seals on your water pump, since its temp related.

I don't know...possible, but it seems to be speed related. If I pop it into N and coast, the noise remains. If I stop, the noise goes away, and nothing when rev'ing in P or N.

Also, is it possible that the axle nut loosened a bit and started to rub on the washer/spacer or would they both spin together? That still wouldn't explain why it needs to be driven for a bit first.

Thanks.
