I own a 96 Grand Caravan FWD 3.3 Engine with the 4speed automatic Transmission. Will the Transmission from a 97 Grand Caravan 3.3 4 speed work? Im pretty sure its the same I just want a second opinion

In 1996 there was a mid change on the 41TE trans. 1996 thru 1996 1/2 the transmission did not have a TRS switch, thats the big 10 way connector. There was two switches one for the back up and the other for starting. There were some other changes too. Flex plate and the TRS pins. Some had round pins and some had the flat pins. Be sure to look over the trans before installing it, and you may want to remove your flex plate and match it up the torque converter bolt holes.

Id like to thank you for replying.

First off the transmission was a match as far as the Electrical connections. My 96 had the 10 way TRS connector on top NOT the 2 PRNDL and Neutral safty switch on the side.

However now theres a Problem. Im not sure if its the transmission or the TCM. The transmission worked good for about a week. Then my wife was on her way to work and she said she was cruising at about 45 and it just downshifted into 2nd gear throwing her forward as the van slowed rappidly. She pulled over turned it off waited few minutes and restarted it and it was working fine again. SO.. my question is could the transmission computer be seeing something wrong? The transmission was rebuilt in Feb of 07 so im told. It does have the new coil packs and the speed sensors looked new.

you may want to remove your flex plate and match it up the torque converter bolt holes.
I didnt do this. What kind of problems would this cause.

You may want to ck for transmission codes that are stored. There maybe a sensor code. But what happen to your wife was the transmission going into limp in.

What are some of the more common reasons for going into limp mode? Like I said after turning off the ignition and restarting it it worked fine again. SO i dont believe it to be a major internal issue but maybe one of the speed sensors?
