I have a 2005 Grand Caravan (59k miles). The airbag light is on constantly. I took to dealer. Said "58910 Needs air bag replaced ran systems ck needs air bag replaced pass side open squib in computer cost 1520 + tax"

I got a letter from dodge back in 2007 about the supplemental front airbag sensor. They gave me a lifetime warranty on this.

Dealer says this is something else. Not covered.

I don't know what an open squib is. Does anyone know if this could be caused by cracked air bag sensor?

I haven't contacted dodge directly yet, but based on past experience, I'm not too hopeful.

 

I would contact a different dealer and report the dealer you were dealing with. Your van should have been covered under warranty at 59000 miles. If you have the3 year 60000 mile standardwarranty there should be no cost to you for this repair. Go to the Chrysler website and send them an e-mail about your problem and what dealership you brought it to. There is also a phone number on the site that you can call. Try both methods and keep track of who you spoke to and what they say. Get employee I.D. numbers if you can.
