Default Torque Converter code

I'm Getting a code for "No RPM drop after lock-up". Is the likelyhood that I just need a new T-converter? Any simple techniques for checking for an electrical problem before taking the tranny out to put in a new converter?

Thank Gooodness spring is here so God's garage is a tad bit warmer....

1st of all, are you dealing with a 3 speed trans or 4 speed. If you have a 3 speed ck the connection at the trans case, if the is good then replace the lock up solenoid on the valve body.

It's a 4spd....sorry forgot to mention that. Tcm and solenoid pack and sensor connections all appear fine. Tranny seems to shift fine most of the time. But Mil lamp is on due to the code and my mileage has fallen to 14-15mpg (OOOUUUCCHHHHH!!!). I'm still hoping to take the tranny from my wifes 99 and put that in my 97 shortly if I can't rectify this situation.
