Caravan Starting Issue?
Greetings,
Just put a new "after market" fuel pump into my '96 Caravan Sport w/the 3.3 motor and 270,000 miles. Responses from this formum helped me greatly.
My problem is that when I commute to work (40 miles one way) and the vehicle sits till lunch, it takes about 5-10 seconds of continuous cranking to start. Same thing when I go home at night.
In the morning, or after sitting over this weekend, it fires right up.
I also put in a relatively inexpensive fuel filter ($15) when I replaced the pump. Other than that, she seems to be running well.
Is fuel somehow getting "sucked" back into the tank leaving the lines "dry". I hear the Fuel pump "energize" and shut off when I turn my ignition on BEFORE cranking.
Thanks,
Tim

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and ck fuel pressure, then turn the key off with the gauge still hook up to the fuel line or rail. Let it sit and watch the gauge, if it goes to zero after 5 mins then the fuel is draining back into the tank. Replace the fuel pump module if this happens.
