04 GC with trans seal leak
Ever since I replaced my drivers side half shaft, the seal has leaked. I have replaced the seal three times, so a total of four seals have leaked at the same rate. The last time I did the seal, I was extremely careful. The seal was replaced correctly. AND the seal I removed appeared perfect. The leak is slow, and only when running.
I fear the inner CV joint is too long, and causing the seal to sit on the wrong part of the joint. O'Reilly says the half shaft is the same from 1996 to 2004. Mine is a 2004. Were there any inner CV joint changes in the years 1996 to 2004 that could produce a seal leak.
Additional info: I verified it is the seal by jacking the car, putting it in drive, and watching the fluid leak out right under the spinning CV joint.
Thanks for any input.

Maybe too much transmission fluid and / or a plugged transmission vent. It is easy to overfill them. Excess fluid can be siphoned out through the dip stick tube.
Note: It takes a lot longer to get the transmission fluid up to temperature (for checking when hot)than the engine coolant.

Since I am open to any ideas, I will take this very seriously and check it out. However, I am fairly sure that this is not the case. I was towing a 5X8 full of oak fire wood and the trans fluid got low on the 2 hour drive. It also left a decent amount of fluid on the drivers side trailer fender.
I sincerely appreciate any ideas, and like I said, I will look very closely at the fluid level. I would love for it to be this simple

I agree w/TJeepman. However, if everything else checks out, then maybe you have an issue with the snout of the new CV shaft. I know this would be unlikely, but an idea. I know it would cost you a new shaft, but on occasion we do get bummed parts. Good luck.
