Sorry to hear about your life difficulties. Protect those kids. Good luck with the brake work.
My 2002 has the Teves system which has a 7 mm Allan type insert (pin instead of bolt).
My Jeep (has 2 bolts) takes a 13 mm socket. I would say 13 mm for you as well but floorslayer1 could be right at 12 mm.
Added Information:
- If doing a lot of Van workyourself, A Haynes Service Manual, at less than $30.00, is a great investment. A lot of the general diagnostic type info could be used for your Neon as well.
- The Auto Zone procedure for doing your brakes, including torque specs and lubricants to use,can be found at http://www.autozone.com/shopping/rep...00c1528003c82f Note: The 16 ft.lbs. for the bolts sounds low to me compared to 26 ft.lbs for my Van.
- I would stay away from petroleum based lubricants for a couple of reasons (gum up & not fully rubber compatible). The synthetics such as Permatex Brake Lube, are recommended for a better job.
Again, good luck with the brake work.

No It was definately 12mm. Pins were new when I put them on that van (came with loaded calipers) and had not been off since I put them on. My Dakota had 13mm... One of my ford cars had 8mm..... I know they all are different, but I've had 3 97's and the originals have always been 10mm
