Default Question about speed sensors

1997 Plymouth Voyager LE with 3.8L. Transmission replaced with Chrysler remanufactured unit about 2 years ago. Replacement transmission came with a limited 3/60 warranty. Internal parts are covered whereas external parts are not. I've recently had to have the speed sensors (input and output) replaced because the van was suddenly downshifting and the speedo was bouncing erratically.

So my question is, are these sensors internal to the transmission or external to it? Would the remanufactured transmission likely have come with these sensors? Or would they have been removed from the old transmission and carried over to the "new one" at the time of the swap?

Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Question about speed sensors

Those sensors would be covered under 12/12 warranty. Because both of them are external.

Default RE: Question about speed sensors

yes, both speed sensors are external. One is inner speed sensor, which is located on the inner portion of the housing and the other is outer, which is located near the front wheel. I replaced the outer speed sensor and everything was fine. A $17.00 part and 10 minute fix... good luck
