I have a new 08 caravan sxt with 28M package (My Gig with u-connect factory installed). No DVD/navigation from factory, but am getting DVDs installed (not navigation). I believe they are just adding the extra DVD player and screens, not replacing the head unit.

I would like iPod integration... but not by fm modulation. Manual shows full unit integration with iPod tab in menu and describes UCI connector that will directly connect and also charge the iPod (suggests I would only have to purchase the cable). How can I tell if my unit has this connector?

I had an 08 T&C rental and it had Ipod integration.
On the Right side of the radio head unit there was a square plug (looked like a button) underneath the plug was a USB plug. I just plugged it into my IPOD with the normal cable and it worked.

 

thanks for the response rabbler... I'll try that, but the dealer said the USB was only for upload of music and wouldn't charge the device or cause the radio to display the iPod menu structure it has built in for full integration. Book refers to a UCI connector, just don't know if I have it.

 

Dealer may be right
Like I said it was a rent a car and didn't have a manual.
Maybe you can't access all the features through the USB.

On another note the rental Had U-Connect, What a fantastic feature!
Hands free cell phone and radio voice control, Too sweet

Some guys are discussing the Ipod "integration" apparently it doesn't do much and is overstated on some models.

I think if your van has the real Ipod integration it has a separate connector in the glove box
