RPM's go up then Dies
I have a 98 Town and Country. 3.3 v6 auto. I usually cruise the Dakota forum. When I turn the key over the RPM's go up and then dies. After about 4 attempts to start the starter will not even turn over. I have had this trouble before. In the past I would just park the van and drive another car till it worked again. Could take a day or months before it would work. I had it parked at a shop for 2 months so they could fix the problem. They started the van 3 times every day and never had a problem. I only have the van and my wife drives the Dakota and the van is now parked at the store. Any help on how to solve this problem would be great.

Has to be either fuel, spark, or air.
- when it won't start, is there spark?
- when it won't start, is it getting fuel? Have you removed a spark plug or two to see if they are wet. Dirt in the gas tank maybe. Is it parked on a slope or on the level (like at the garage maybe)
- anything interfering with the air intake? Squirrels build a nest in there? Dirty filter?
- is the problem ambient temperature related?
