Rear wiper control misbehavior
With rear wiper in normal (intermittent) mode, wiper runs for a second or less, then stops in mid-cycle without returning to "home" position. I opened and inspected the gearbox attached to the motor and everything looked OK. With motor disconnected and dash switch on, I read brief 12V pulses on one of the power feeds, and a steady 6V on the other one. I think the steady 6V may be the issue (should probably be 12V) but I'm not sure what would cause this. Any suggestions on causes or further troubleshooting would be appreciated.
I apologize for forgetting to include the model year. Thanks for replying despite that oversight. It is a 2005 Grand Caravan. I just finished testing the motor by directly connecting a 12V power source. On the center terminal, the motor runs only until reaching the home position and then shuts off. On the other terminal, the motor runs continuously as long as voltage is applied. I believe this indicates the motor is working correctly and the problem must lie somewhere in the control circuits. Any idea where those are located? Pushbutton switch on the dash?
You may want go to the dealer and ck for a flash update on the FCM or the CCN. I know from early models, dodge was having a wiper problem and a flash took care of the problems.
