Help!!! Van Wont Start Makes Clunking Noise!
Hi Everyone,
I have a Dodge Van B250, 5.2L V8 3/4 ton. Bout 150,000 miles on her.
Bout 2 months ago i started having a problem where I would try to start the van, power would be fine, engine would turn over and fuel was reaching the carb, but it wouldnt start. It would crank for a sec and then make a loud clunk type noise every so often when trying to start.
After a few days or so, it would start up like nothing was wrong, and run fine for a few weeks. And then yesterday it did it again. Would anyone out there maybe have dealt with this issue or know what i should look at to try and correct it??? Im thinking im going to replace the starter in the morning, i think the clunk noise may be the starter flywheel seezing up but then again i dont know!!
Any input would be greatly appreciated....
Rob

Since you are driving a B250 van.The problem could be the starter, but the flywheel is part or the torque converter. I would remove the start and inspect the teeth on flywheel. If the teeth are ground up, then replace the starter and torque converter.
