Default Quick question for speed sensors.....

I have a 96 t&c 3.8 4 spd and I just went to Orielly's and autozone today to get the output speed sensor and the part they gave me has a small shaft that comes out of it and rotates with a plug on the other end. This is the only speed sensor they show for 96 to 97 caravan and town and country. This is obviously not the part I need because I searched all over the tranny for this part to go and there is nowhere to put it!!!!!

My question is: Since this is not the part I need should I have them to look up the part under a 98? I looked on their website and it shows the two speed sensors that my van has. I just need to know if the ones from 98 to 99 will work with mine.

A little side note......I suspect this is the problem with a lot of guys who can't find the speed sensor location on their vans because theyre getting the wrong part. The one they gave me has a bolt that holds it in where as the ones I need screw in......

Here is the mopar part numbers 4800878 and 4800879,These part number are the same for 1989 thru 2010 41TE transmissions. You may want ck with the dealer for any part number changes.

Thanks.....I got the right one from the dealer today, replaced it but no change. i'm not sure where to go from here. It starts off in first, goes to second and then nuetral when its time for third. after slowing down enough it shifts back in to second and stays in limp mode till I shut it off. The code reader at autozone showed the output speed sensor but now what?

Ok....I had it rescanned and it said bad circuit with the output speed sensor. I brought it home and ohmed both wires to the tcm plug and both check out fine. Could i possibly be looking at replacing the TCM?
