Question Gonna replace Valve Body. Am I on the right track??

1998 Grand Caravan Sport 3.3L

Recently while coming off of the highway my tranny went into limp mode.
I checked the codes and got an"obd2 - 1776" -aka- (i think) a dtc-47 -
Which is, "Solenoid switch valve latched in LR position".
No other codes came up at all
just a generic p0700- transmission control system malfunction.
Ive read that if a DTC 24 comes up then its electronic and if not then its not.
By what Ive read about the 41te and this code Im guessing that since my vehicle has 152000 miles on it its probably the SSV getting cockeyed in its "chamber" just due to normal wear..

Im planning on just replacing the valve body.
AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK ?????

I have alldata and have the instructions on how to replace the valve body. Ive never done one but i work at a garage with a veteran mechanic (over 30 yrs) he's not ever done one in a 41te either. Im just doing a bit of research before we dig in and wondered if theres anything Alldata hasnt told us.
Im pretty sure Im gonna need to relearn the TCM, a buddy of ours has the comp. to do that with.

All data says, "push Park Rollers from Guide Bracket" .
Also Alldata says, "To ease installation of the valve body , turn the manual valve lever fully clockwise."
And "Guide park rollers into Guide bracket , while shifting manual lever assembly out of the installation position."
Im not so clear on what all this means but maybe once its all in front of me itl will be.

Is there Anything else I should Know??

Any kind of clearer explanation of the directions i have would be appreciated.

THANKS !!!

If your going to guess I would try replacing the solenoid pack.
There isn't much to the valve body on these transmissions.

Doesn't your buddy with 30 years of experience know how to diagnose properly?
Look up P1776 on Alldata and read the code description and fault parameters.
It should point you to a diagnostic tree that will tell you how to properly test your trans for the conditions that cause this code to set.
Good luck!

well i brought her to a good tranny shop just in case i was wrong about my diagnosis. I didnt get any codes except the 1776 and according to alldata that means one thing without other codes- a valve body... the shop replaced the soleoid pack. Ive driven her on the highway and all around about 3 hours driving so far and so far so good.. im impressed. I will keep you updated if i have any issues from here on out.... Thank you all for your comments...
