91 dodge caravan huge problem
A buddy of mine has a caravan and he went on a camping trip this weekend. the drive round trip is 4 hrs and they went through 8 qrts of motor oil. I went over to take a lok tonight but everything is covered in oil. the whole chassis is black. even the rear door is covered. has anyone ever seen this before? I'm kind of thinking it's a blown out oil pan gasket or maybe the seal between the trans axel and oil pan. I'm not really a front wheel drive guy so I'm not the best guy for the job. any help would be appreciated
well more questions than answers.
how many miles on this engine?
maintance history?
suggest:
clean engine and try to see where the oil is comming from
Also ck- oil fill cap- PCV system- hole in pan?
Ps: which engine? if there is a turbo start looking there

probably around 130 or 150,000 miles i'll have to check. as for maintenance history. it was owned by family member that was a Chrysler mechanic so odds are it was well maintained. it looks to be in pretty good shape
Was an oil change done recently by Walmart (or many other oil change places). They are well known to leave the oil fill caps off and pan bolts loose. Most professional mechanics have stories about Walmart's in particular.
