okay, here's my problem.
Have a 06 caravan. in feb had a whine noise after 30 min trip. took immediately to shop so they could hear it and they said it was coming from alternator.they replaced. that fixed it for a week or so. then they replaced it again (no charge). that fixed it for 4 months. had it replaced again (no charge), and it did not fix it at all. The whine is there only for longer trip (30 mins or more). sometimes once the noise starts, it's on for the remaining part of the trip. other times, it comes and goes during the course of the trip. i can't believe that it is still the alternator. and they are not getting more money from me, so i don't think they are trying to gouge me. what else could it be? any help would be greatly appreciated ... i'm starting to think i should replace the vehicle!! i really don't want to be stranded somewhere with two kids!!!

 

I would take a look at the belt tensioner..........either the bearing of it or the actual "arm" of it making noise.....maybe a lil lateral play on bearing....
