97 3.0 caravan NO monitor signals for EGR, Heated O2, & catalyst monitors
In my 97 caravan, we just replaced the 3.0 engine with a good running exact same type and year 3.0 liter. it started right up, no issues, runs great. But when I took it to WA state Emmissions station... it failed, they said that their computer was not picking up functioning signals to or from the catalyst, evaporative, heated O2, and EGR MONITORS? But it runs great- NO codes, but wont pass, nor will they even test it for WA emmissions without these monitors working.
someone told me that I just need to drive it for a few days to reset computer is that correct? Kind of tough without license tabs... or real risky at best unless thats the fix... HELP Dodge / Chrysler car guys !! ~ Rob

i hate vehicle testing!!
let me ramble my ideas:
sounds like a drive cycle has not been completed- found this on forum*.
When do the plates (tabs) expire? often end of month so get out and drive.... you get a free recheck take the L O N G way there

>Apply for a waiver
>change to an address not requiring insp
> did your registration allow you to list "where vehicle garaged" maybe your child (wink wink) has it at college in a safe area
>apply for a out of area exemption- then you will have time
*This is allegadly a Chrysler/Dodge specific drive cycle
@1/2 tank fuel (I added this)
Check engine light off, codes cleared; cold start.
-warm up engine 5 minutes (or until closed loop is reached--5 min is usually plenty)
-drive (w/ steady throttle) at a steady speed between 40 and 60 mph for 8 min
-stop and idle 3 min
-drive (w/ steady throttle) at a speed above 20 mph for 2 min
-turn key off, leave off 10 min
At the very least, usually a day or two of a mix of highway and back road driving will complete all the monitors.
