Default No Steering 2003 Caravan

Anyone encountered sudden "No Steering" in a 2003 Caravan? Driving normal, go to make a turn, and it won't. Had Dealer pull the steering wheel and check igntion lock. It's fine. When stopped, turning can cause a shudder. To corrrect problem, must pull over to side of road, stop and shut van off. Restart and it works normally. Suspect rack, but have heard rumours about p/s pump on this model. This van is very dangerous. Any thoughts? Thanks.

No i haven't heard of a power steering pump problem, but i have seen the rack'n'pinion's bindding up. How is the fluid? Have you try a power steering flush and see if that would help.

No, I haven't tried a "flush", but thanks for the suggestion. At this juncture considering the safety aspects, I don't want a quick fix or repair when it comes to steering. I just want to diagnose the problem, and replace the component that is failing. It's not worth the risk. I assume the spool valve in the rack is screwed, and will most likely re and re the rack.

Found problem. Drain tube from cowl plugged and dripping on serpentine belt causing slippage at the p/s pump. Apparently, this is a regular occurance on pick ups as well.
