Check Engine Light On - Codes P0580 and P0016

Check Engine Light On - Codes P0580 and P0016
A couple of days ago, the check engine light came on in my 2005 Dodge Caravan. I take it into the mechanic and he pulls Code P0580 and P0016 off of the computer.
This mechanic is unsure what to do so he sends me to the Dodge dealer. They pull the same codes off.
This is what the codes mean:
1. P0580 - Speed Control Switch
2 . P0016 - Crankshaft/camshaft timing misalignment
The dealer's suggestion is to rip it apart to inspect teeth alignment and say that possibly it could be the cam and crank sensors. They want a fair amount of money to investigate this so I'm wondering if anyone here would have any insight into this?
The van drives fine. The light goes on and off. I did notice this morning that when accelerating it hesitates and bogs out.
