Question 3 speed tranny issue

The tranny in my 99 caravan (190kmiles)was slipping and jumping out of gear. I changed the fluid and filter, adding 4 qts of atf+4. Now the tranny is shifting errattically. It often sticks in first gear, especially when cold. I can usually fix it by manually shifting to second then back to D, but not always. Sometimes it doesn't downshift when I stop, so that It starts off in 2nd rather than 1st. Other times it shifts fine or just a little jerky. Any suggestions? I understand you cant reset the TCM in these models at home. Is this right?

The governor maybe one of the problems, Ck the kick down cable or lever. The 31th trans had some problems with the kick down shaft and the shifter shaft that comes thru the trans case. They would rust or bind together, so when you push down on the gas pedal to kick down to pass someone the two shaft would cause the transmission to move out of gear. The governor is easy to repair. Remove the valve body and remove the three 7mm bolts. Either clean the valves or replace the gov body and both valves.

Master-tech, would it be possible to be more specific and if there is anything I should be very careful of when I remove the valve body.

Default 31th 3 speed trans valve body removal

Dodge Caravan won't shift by itself but will force shift. Thinking it is the governor valves stuck. I dropped the pan and attempted to remove the valve body. I removed the park/neutral switch and the rod inside that attached with a clip to the valve body. Undid the 7 bolts and removed them. I pulled the plug on the TCC and then I tried to rock it out. No luck, thinking it was the tcc not wanting to come out, I used a large towel and put it on top of the tcc and tapped lightly with a rubber mallet. It did go down flush but still could not rock the valve body off. Am I missing something else that needs to come off. Any help would be appreciated. Also, what would be a good cleaner to use on the valves? Thanks a lot. I am not a mechanic but I have rebuilt several engines succesfully and try to do my own maintenance as I am retired and need stuff to do.
