Year and engine size would tell me if he were running a 4 speed or 3 speed. 3.0L is 50/50, but 3.3/3.8L would be a 4 speed. Thats why i was asking. We can't help if you and i don't have the right information. From what i am reading, he's in limp in.

According to the commonly known sources (chrysler literature, Hollander exchange, etc.), the chances of having a 4speed auto behind the 3.0 in 1997 is ZERO and the having a 3speed w/3.0 is 100%

1996, 97 did not offer the OD trans behind the 3.0. I'm assuming the 97 carvan 3.0 in the OP vehicle description is the trans in question.

Based on the year and engine, I bet that, if the person fixing the TCC, screwed up the valve body or the governor tubes. Hence no shift out of first because the valve body would have no clue that the vehicle was moving

At this point,I think it time to have the pro's look at it. This doesn't mean a new transmission. This means that you need to have a pro look at what is wrong with it. The problem like 92dak5.24x4 said, the tubes may not be lined up right.

Since when do transmission shops practice mental health? What's the Kent Moore number on that brain aligner?

Actually it's a Miller tool, Kent Moore makes the tools for GM.
to the originator, it is IMPOSSIBLE to guess how much it will cost to fix this problem... since it seems the problem didn't exsist until someone tried to 'fix' the tcc solenoid. why did you say it didn't shift into overdrive when you already knew it had a 3speed trans?

Oh yeah, Miller. Silly me. So pray tell, what number is it? I lost my KM version of it and I sorely need a replacement.
