Default Loud steering sound on cold vehicle

@ RickMN (but others welcomed!)

Rick, just a short note to thank you for your help on the thread I started re the quick strut and swaybar link job I did.

Also, based on another thread I found while researching a problem, I found your article "Load moaning sound on cold start – Chrysler vehicles". (I think you meant "Loud".) Anyway, I am getting a similar noise, although I'd hesitate to call it "terrible" (per your article). I suppose that's subjective though, as my wife would call it that.

The article doesn't mention this explicitly, but is the PS fluid expected to be completely drained and replaced with new fluid, along with the reservoir replacement? If yes, how does one drain the system? At the cooler?

Chilton's advice on bleeding the PS system is to add fluid, turn the steering wheel from side to side without hitting the stops, and repeat until the reservoir maintains a level. This seems a lot easier than using a vacuum pump. Please advise, and TIA.
