looks like you already found it at advance auto parts. its only used on 3 speed transmission for torque converter lockup control. the very rarely ever fail.

I´m so lost - I´m sure I have a 4 speed transmission it´s L-3-D-N-R-P so is it 4 or 3 speed ?

The guy at advance auto parts said I need this part:

I'm sure that the genius at advance auto parts is right since they only hire high end master technicians with years of experience. What do you mean by "...but not at my Carvan" I don't understand this statement? Looking at your listing of the L3DNRP which most normal people list as PRND3L, use some deductive reasoning to figure out if you have a 3 or 4 speed. What do you think the 3 represents? and then one character higher is a 'D'. maybe if you drove your vehicle paying attention to the tach and shift points you can determine if it's a 3 or 4 speed. I can, with absolute assurance, tell you that part at advance auto parts is NOT for your vehicle. Oh and if you are 'so lost' that you don't know what part you need, why are you chasing after parts, how are you determining that you need a part, and would you be capable of fixing what ever problem that brought you to the point of determining you may need this part?

You need to start over, We know you have a 2001 van. Do you have a 2.4L,3.0L,3.3L or 3.8L engine. And looking down from the front of the van, do you see a big wire connector going into a box ( solenoid pack )? And any other information too,Ck engine lite.
