you have to remove the bracket on the rear of the cover but you still will not be able to see if the flex plate is cracked. It cracks around where it is bolted on so the transmission needs to be removed to verify if it is broken.

Are you 100% certain of this. I have read other things about same issues and it says to remove the cover plate to inspect and check if bolts are tight.. I just want to make sure because if the trans needs to be removed I am going to give up fixing it for myself.. cheers...

Default Chech camshaft wobble

I had the same problem for a while. Mine also stalled occasionally. Eventually it just died and wouldn't restart. I had it towed to a dealer to run diagnostics and found out that my camshaft had broken. They told me that the rattling I was hearing was due to slop in the camshaft bearings which transferred to the lifters, therefore it made it seeem the sound was coming from evverywhere, top to bottom. Mine was a 3.3 liter V-6 Flex fuel.

Thanks in advance.

Also tried to inspect flywheel ... removed starter but unsure how to remove the plate covering the flywheel. any help with that would be appreciated as well.
