'03 Grand Caravan, replacing rotors and pads.

The caliper pins appear to have a protective boot, and I can't tell how to remove them. Is it an allen wrench or something else?

 

Remove the caps with a flat blade screw driver. The pins are 7mm hex or allen.

I tried to get the caps off, but it felt like they were going to be torn up before I'd ever get them off, so I left them. I was still able to get the pins out, just have to lean on the allen wrench a bit to coax them out, after unscrewing the thread.
