Default Speedomoter and gauges stopped working

Our car got stuck in the snow last night aand we had to leave it there overnight. This morning, we got the car out and everything was fine, except for the fact that none of the gauges(speedomoter, tachometer, fuel and temp gauges) were functioning. Somone told me it was because of snow compacted under the car. I have no idea, can someone please help me with an answer.

Welcome to DF
Sounds like the cluster went dead, I would give it a day for warmer temp and see if they come back ti life.Or warm up the inside the van, and hope the gauges come back.

Ok....new problem. My wife went to start the car this morning and all she got was a rapid clicking sound. The car wouldn't start and upon inspection of the fuse box I found that if I removed a relay that it would stop, but the minute I put it back in I get that sound again. The clicking sound was present regardless if I was trying to start the car or not. Please help me, I have no idea where to start.

Some how you are getting a feed back to the relay. The ck engine lite maybe on. I don't know the year of your van. But i would start by looking under the battery, for battery acid.

I think, your battery is empty. Try with a good one.

Make sure your alternator is charging ( auto zone checks this for free )

Make sure your battery is fully charged and is good meaning that even if it shows 12 volts do a cold cranking test on it ( auto zone does it for free ) sometimes the battery has 12 volts but not enough amps to start the car.

Also check your ground cable from the battery to the engine make sure it's clean and the terminals are tight.

If that's all good and it's still not starting and makes the clicking sound, it may be your starter, but just be methodical and check the little stuff first.

Hope this helps.
