Default Hope the vans ok after all this work

I had to get the system flushed becouse of my recent transmission problem. its a 1998 Grand Caravan SE AWD 3.8l

Some how coolent from the radiator got in the transmission, and trans fluid in the radiator. And the transmission failed it cost me $2600 for the rebuild, they put a trans cooler in and pluged the radiator where the transmission coolent line went. But it was still contaninated from the trans fluid. I hope I got it all out with the flush today. Im also putting in a new thermostat my self cuz firestone wanted $17.99 for one and $60 to install it so I got one for $6.99. Im also putting on a new upper rad hose and new rad cap the one with the pressure release thing on the top.

Do you think ill be ok? Its never overheated and I hope the head gaskets are fine. It has 156,000 miles on it.

Any advise will be great/

Who is working on your van? Even an amateur mechanic can tell the difference between a coolant line and a tranny fluid line..jeeze. I'd suggest finding a good indy shop and staying the hell away from any stealership if that is where you're going. $2600 is alot for a rebuild, which is why I'm suspecting a stealership.

You may have to flush it A LOT 2 or 3 times in order to get all the tranny oil out of there. Once is not enough in my opinion.

I had this problem with another car, i was told the tranny cooler in the radiator may be leaking.

Oil can break down the rubber hoses so you may have to replace the hoses just to have peace of mind that they won't degrade faster than normal.

So long as it's not overheating you should be fine

Just make sure you burp the radiator VERY WELL or it will overheat right away.

Go with an oem temp thermostat not the colder ones ( ie 180 degree ) your mpg will suffer from the ecm running the engine rich trying to get it to operating temp it's programmed to recognize.
