So. I got my van pre owned , almost new from a dealership, didnt have the keyless entry keyfob with the van, just a basic "key" , well. I go to the dodge dealership, "its gonna cost 250 for the combo key/ buttons and 100 for a basic key" HA! . I would like to know whats the loop hole here, i know they sell caravan keys on ebay not yet etched , can i bypass the dealership and get a new keyfob for my van and have it programmed to work for my van???

 

i beleive ya need 2 sets, you can buy them from ebay but they must not of been programmed before BUT i think you still need the dealer to program them to the vehicle.

 

Correct! As long as the key has never been programmed before, it will work. It will need to be cut and programmed by a dealer though.

And try another dealer, a key with a fob, customer cost from us is $145 and we charge $40 to program.

 

ok so i need to get a key w/ fob from ebay , how do i know if its right for my vin number, or does that matter ? does it just have to be for my year van.

 

It just needs to have the correct buttons. Some have just lock and unlock. Some have buttons for the power sliding doors. Some have the button for the power liftgate.
