My 95 Grand Caravan stopped charging the battery. Check engine light is on showing code 41. I stopped by Kragen and indicated that Alternator is not charging battery. Battery is good. I pull the alternator out and had them check is on their machine in the store and it is working properly.

I know what code 41 means - Open or shorted condition on Alternator field control circuit.

Does any one have any ideas as to what is causing this problem and how do I fix it?

The problem could a wiring or the engine controller.AKA Spec controller. Code 41 is also a transmission code too, LR solenoid circuit.

 

Thanks for the info. How do I test the vaious components to figure out which one is defective?

 

check the wire connector where it plugs into the alternator.
