What year is your van? I've never seen a van with the old style hose that wasn't covered under the K04 recall..........not that it couldn't happen.

I have a 2008 grand caravan. My wife was suppose to call and double check. SW probably hasn't. lol I've never had good experiences with dealerships. So I avoid them. Every time I've had something at one something always seems to go wrong or come back with something broke or not put together correctly, or worse than when it went in.

Send me a PM with your vin, I can check and see if the recall applies to your vehicle. It is a pretty easy line to replace, shouldn't have much issue.

Sorry im just getting back. My wife called and it wasn't covered in the warranty. On a good not, i ordered the new and improved hose. @24$ after shipping. Got freon from the store $40 and all is well. Easy change is an understatement. Thanks for the help.

I think it took me all of five minutes to change the line. Threw the vacuum pump on it for an hour and held it for another hour. Then charged it back up. Cold as can be now..
Does anybody know what kind of oil it takes. I went to get some oil and they had four different kinds and the guy didn't know what it takes.

Default 2009 grand caravan

While waiting in the school line to pick up kids my wife smelled what she called burning wires. Her AC doesn't work now. The compressor doesn't kick on. Any possible hints on where to start to troubleshoot this at?

Might be the discharge line split. When mine split it sprayed a fine mist of fluid onto the serpentine belt causing it to slip and make a burning smell. Check the short line that comes out of the AC compressor and attaches near the radiator, if it is wet (oily) then it is probably split.

Default 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

I purchased this vehicle new and have had several recalls. The next thing to go wrong is the AC. It is the rear evaporator with extension valve. This has been recalled in the 2006-2007 models. The part hasn't changed and even my mechanic wonders why this hasn't been on the recall list. I have contacted Dodge and didn't get a response. They never heard of this piece on the Grand Caravan. Someone please guide me where to go next. This is terrible.
