Wink got me a new one...well new to me

1996 grand caravan.....so heres whats up.....192k on it....1350.00 i got it for super good condition only cpl small dents....large hole in the intake hose connecting the air box and throttle body.....and broken hose in the vent hose from valve cover to air box....and the chk engine light is on....and the other thing seemed like it was revving a bit high at 70 on the freeway ( 70 is limit here in some spots...) was revving at 3200..... is that too high at 70? oh and that was with the cruise control on....

so 2 hoses and a chk engine light...not too bad for that price.....guess im askin what do i have in store for me with 192k on it...and i saw the code list...how do i get the codes? do i have to take to shop?

A large hole in the intake tube sounds like it could be where the intake air temperature sensor goes. Look around for a couple of wires dangling.
As far as the transmission goes, start from a stop and count the upshifts. It sounds like you are in either 2nd or 3rd gear. By contrast, our 2001 runs somewhere under 2000rpm at that speed.
Pull the codes by doing a quick off-run dance with the key 3 times and they'll come up.

Then the codes should be displayed in the odometer section of the cluster.
