1998 Dodge Caravan lights are dim
Hi,
I have a 1998 Dodge Caravan Base - V6-3.0 engine, & all the lights, outside & inside--headlights, dashboard, accessory, etc. are all dim.
A few possible details, causes or symptoms: The car has not started up 3 times in the past few months, I was able to jump start successfully twice, the last time it would not start at all, took battery to Auto Zone where it charged successfully & started right up when I put back in car.
The most recent time was after my teenager driver-who was in a hurry pulled the key out of the starter without turning it to off--as I discovered the following morning when noticed the starter (without key) somewhere between on and off! Have had a few problems with the starter for several years, there is some play in there but after someone here suggested graphite a few years ago it hasnt been a problem--though not sure if that might have something to do with it this time. The other issue was a fender-bender due to my wife side swiping another car & did some damage to the passenger side front head light and assembly--it worked fine though somewhat loose-- I was able to get the headlight aim correct & am planning to get an assembly but money is extremely tight now and this is a second car for us.
I did check the cables around the headlights & seem to be OK, no corrosion etc. & know there is an issue for some regarding the plastic headlights effecting vision but is not the problem as all the lights inside and out are just dim.
Any help/suggestions appreciated --sorry for the long version--thanks!
