I went to the gas station yesterday and as I was leaving the house I noticed my 2008 Grand Caravan would not shift up to 2,3,4 gear. When I pulled over and shut off the van and tried again it was fine. Later in the day the problem happened again. I noticed that when I moved the gear shifter over to change from drive to d5 d4 so on there was no numbers that would show up. When it works fine you can shift from those gears. I also noticed when the problem occurs the van shifts very hard out of the park possition jolting the van!! It seems like a computer problem because the van works fine if overtrans is working!! Please help I cant get into the shop until Thursday and its my only family vechile!! Any advice is apprecicated!!!! Thankyou

Not sure yet! Where can I get it scanned for codes? I have a appointment today with dodge but I was trying to see if anyone has been through this!

 

Could be the transmission or you could have an issue with the bus going down.

 

code read TCM is this covered under waranty I HAVE 53000 MILES? The dealership is giving me the runaround!

 

Did you ask them what the codes were? If its the 6 speed transmission,there should be codes. Once you get the codes post them. Thanks

 

No codes I WILL TRY TOMORROW. WHEN MY WIFE TURNS THE KEY 4-5 TIMES TO ON OFF POSITION FAST THE TRANSMISSION WORKS FINE NO PROBLEMS DOES THIS MAKE SENSE. IT DRIVES FINE BUT IF YOU JUST GO OUT TO START NORMAL IT WONT SHIFT WHILE DRIVING AND AS YOU SHIFT TO R OR D IT SHIFTS VERY HARD INTO GEAR!! THANKS ALOT FOR YOUR HELP!!!
