Default 08 GC Check Engine Light On

I have an 08 GC with 3.8L engine. The check engine light came on last Sunday. I removed the gas cap and reinstalled. Checked the codes and from the web it said the gas cap was the most likely culprit. I can't remember the code now. I reset the code by disconnecting the battery. The light was off when I reconnected the battery and did a test drive.

Fast forward...no light all week until today. Check engine light came back on, only now there are no fault codes when I check.

Any one have any ideas? Thanks for the help.

Using the on-off-on-off-on method and reading from the odometer. Now it just shows dashes and then says done.

In most case's , you should have a stored code in the pcm. And you don't remember the code you had before? Maybe P0441 or P0456.

I think the code was P0455. What's strange was the light came back but the code doesn't show anymore. I am thinking of just getting a new gas cap and trying that. Any thoughts.

If that was the code you were getting, Thats a large evap leak code. Should have the dealer run a evap test. Maybe the evap system either pass fail.
