My A/C compressor seized so I got a new one which came with a receiver dryer and a new expansion valve. I also got all the necessary o-rings and gaskets.

My question is do I have to replace the expansion valve or can I use the old one? The new one has the little switch on top in a different position so it will not mount to the firewall because the switch is in the way.

I do not have a tap and die set so I can not drill a new hole and re-tap it.

Replace the expansion valve. The answer is yes.But i would be sure you have the correct parts for your van, before replacing any parts.
