we have a 2002 dodge carvan and have been having door open on side when closed and locked.NO one was near the key remotes at this time then tonight went out because the headlight where on and found the van running and unlocked with both sets of keys in house.We tryied to turn off and when hit the brake it turned off.why would these things happen.

 

Try taking the batteries out of the remotes. Maybe one of them is bad.

I have heard of a similar thing happening to an old truck that sat up for awhile. Turned out that a mouse was living up near the fuse panal and used a piece of gum foil wrapper in its nest. The slightest movement of the vehicle would start it up.

 

Do you have remote start?, that would explan why it could start then shut off when you touch the pedals with out the key in

or Do you have an after market security system, or factory security system


also have you done any wiring changes to the van, example new radio, lights, etc
